Chairperson — Chief Executive Officer Summerland and District Credit Union
Kelly is CEO of Summerland & District Credit Union and has been for the past 15 years.
He has been in the Western Canadian Credit Union System for 31 years and prior to coming to Summerland was CEO of an Alberta Credit Union and held various capacities at a multi-branch Saskatchewan Credit Union, including Marketing Manager and Manager of Retail Operations.
Kelly is an Associate of the Credit Union Institute of Canada and Dalhousie University, with honours and a specialty in Lending Studies. Kelly is the Board Chair of the Credit Union Executives Society (CUES) and holds an ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors as well as a Certified Chief Executive designation.
Vice Chairperson — Appointed Director
She is a lawyer, and educator who has practiced in the area of human rights for over 25 years. She served on the executive of the British Columbia Industrial Relations Association for 10 years. Anita is a founding member and President of the Galiano Island Loan Fund Society. She was an appointed member of the Employment Standards Review Commission, the City of Vancouver Women’s Task Force and the Galiano Parks and Recreation Commission.
Anita has taught at Capilano College in the Political Studies, Women’s Studies and Labour Studies departments. She has a BA (Hons) from York University, an MA from the University of Toronto and an LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School. She is called to the Bar in Ontario and British Columbia. She completed the director education program at the Institute of Corporate Directors. She is the consulting editor of the Annotated British Columbia Human Rights Code.
Darlene K. Hyde
Director — Appointed Director
Darlene is currently CEO of BC Real Estate Association.
Over the years, Darlene has served in leadership roles on a number of not for profit and community boards. She is a past Chair of Douglas College Foundation, during which time the Foundation fund grew from $15 million to $20 million.
Darlene has served as past chair of Westminster Savings Credit Union, the predecessor to Prospera Credit Union, and as past chair of the Motor Vehicle Sales Authority Customer Compensation Fund.
Darlene earned a BA Hons at McGill University and an MBA at Memorial University. Darlene has lived and worked in five provinces, and was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan. In her spare time, Darlene enjoys the performing arts, golf, travel and hiking.
Director — Chief Executive Officer Aldergrove Credit Union
Gus has been the CEO of Aldergrove Credit Union since 2005.
Gus moved to the Aldergrove area in 1973 with his parents and five older brothers. Growing up, he played hockey in the Aldergrove minor Hockey Association. He graduated from Abbotsford Senior Secondary School in 1978 and went on to earn a diploma in Business Management and Administration from the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), graduating in 1980. In 2008, he received the Distinguished Alumni award from UFV.
During his long credit union career, which started in 1986, Gus has earned his Fellow of the Credit Union Institute (FCUIC) designation and recently CCD designation through the CUES Governance Leadership Institute.
Gus has been a Trustee of the Credit Union Foundation of BC and currently serves as President.
Director — CEO, Williams Lake & District Credit Union
Jim is the CEO of Williams Lake and District Credit Union.
He obtained a Business Administration Certificate from the University of Saskatchewan and a Post Baccalaureate Degree in Management from Athabasca University. Jim enjoys the rural lifestyle, living on an acreage with his wife and daughter and their pets, poultry, livestock and big gardens. In his spare time Jim can be found in the shop, restoring a muscle car from the 1960’s.
Director — Director, Grand Forks Credit Union
Bill has served on the board of Grand Forks and District Credit Union since 2014.
He is currently GFCU’s Vice-Chair, Chair of the Credit and Market Risk Committee and the Chair of the Governance and HR Bill is also the Chair of the Peer Group Three Executive Committee.
In 2017 Bill obtained the ACCUD designation, (Accredited Canadian Credit Union Director) and in 2019 completed the Governance in Cooperatives Certificate from the University of Saskatchewan and in 2020 obtained the CCD (Certified Credit Union Director) designation.
As a passionate cooperative enthusiast Bill is an active member and volunteer for the Kettle Valley Food Co-op. Bill and his wife Sandra have been self-employed for more than 35 years while enjoying the lifestyle of rural B.C. in the Kettle Valley, they live with their two cats on the bank of the Kettle River.
Director — CEO, First Credit Union
Linda joined First Credit Union in February of 2018 as Chief Executive Officer.
With over twenty years of experience in Senior Executive roles within Canada Trust, TD Bank, CIBC and the insurance division of BCAA, Linda has developed expertise in change management, leadership, & continuous improvement. Some of the highlights of her roles include heading up Branch Banking in Alberta for CIBC as Market Vice President, leading National Sales as VP Private Client Services for TD Wealth, introducing Lean Six Sigma methodology to TD Bank, and leading the Insurance operation and contact centre for BCAA as SVP & Chief Member Experience Officer.
Linda considers herself a lifelong learner; she has completed the Certified Financial Planning designation, holds a Bachelor & Masters of Business Administration degree from Simon Fraser University, completed the Queen’s University Executive Sales Leadership program, and earned a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma. Linda has also completed the Credit Union Directors Accreditation (CUDA) course curriculum.
Linda serves as a Director on the Boards of BC’s Stabilization Central Credit Union, and the Canadian Credit Union Association, and is Board Chair of the Credit Union Agencies Alliance, an insurance partnership comprised of The Cooperators, First Credit Union and Aldergrove Credit Union.
Director - Director, Prospera Credit Union
Elected to the Board of Stabilization Central Credit Union in 2020, Colin currently serves as Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee
Colin has more than 40 years of experience in senior executive management roles in financial services and member-based organizations with a focus on corporate finance, strategic planning and risk management. From 1996 until his retirement in 2013, he was with British Columbia Automobile Association serving in senior roles, including SVP & CFO, SVP & CRO and Corporate Secretary. Earlier in his career, he served as the CFO for Surrey Credit Union and as the Canadian Director of the Exchange Network.
Colin is a Chartered Professional Accountant (FCPA, FCA) and is an ICD.D accredited Director with the Institute of Corporate Directors. In addition, he holds a BSc (Chemistry) and MBA from the University of British Columbia.
He is an active member in the community serving on a number of not-for-profit Boards of Directors.
