Darlene received the Fellowship Designation on June 3, 2026, at the Institute of Corporate Directors National Convention in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The designation recognizes accomplished governance leaders who have made significant contributions to advancing governance excellence and strengthening organizations across Canada.
As Chair of the Stabilization Central Board of Directors, Darlene brings extensive experience in governance, strategy, and organizational leadership. Her commitment to strong governance and thoughtful decision-making continues to support Stabilization Central’s mandate and the long-term resilience of British Columbia’s credit union system.
Throughout her career, Darlene has been recognized as a respected governance leader, serving on numerous boards and contributing to the advancement of governance practices across the country. Receiving the ICD Fellowship Designation reflects both her professional achievements and her ongoing commitment to effective board leadership.
In a recent ICD video, Darlene shared her perspective on the evolving role of boards in an increasingly complex environment. She highlighted the importance of systems thinking and the need for directors to look beyond individual events to understand how risks, opportunities, and external forces are interconnected. Darlene also emphasized the importance of maintaining focus on long-term strategic objectives, sharing a lesson that has guided her leadership throughout her career: “Keep your eyes on the prize. Do not get distracted by any event or outburst. Be clear on your objectives and move forward.”
